power nasi lemak
Just realised that I should have posted a map to the place, from ladysilver’s comment. Here it is!
It’s at Boon Lay Food Centre, right at the front corner facing the carpark. If you go at night, you can just tell by the queue in front of it
Buses to take: 99, 240, 246
boon lay nasi lemak, power
There was a time when I was quite a fan of the famous boon lay nasi lemak. until i realised i might well get a heart attack from eating nasi lemak at 2am in the morning too often. Why 2am? because the nasi lemak stall only starts selling at 10pm at night.
3 years ago, the queues snaked around like crazy, even at 2am in the morning. 3 years later, the queues are still there. But i’ve given up waiting 30minutes, even if the rice and chilli and chicken wings are to die for. I do miss the chicken wings though. They are GOOD. so good that I’ve seen some uni students order just 2-3 wings to eat with their nasi. Maybe I should risk the queue again.
But it was only until now, that I realised, that famous stall, subject to comparisons to the famous changi village nasi lemak, actually has a website. Yes, Power Nasi Lemak is very much powered up to the internet.
mr brown coffee recalled!
got this off mr. brown the blogger: http://www.mrbrown.com/blog/2008/09/china-milk-scar.html
It seems that mr brown the coffee, one of the better coffees I like, is being recalled by King Car, the producer to test for contaminated products. and I was looking forward to drinking hot canned mr brown coffee in taiwan later this year.
very soon, we’ll all have to import and milk our own cows to get fresh uncontaminated milk.
beat the heat with alcohol
Looking around for ways to finish up my bottle of citron vodka, and this seems the most yummy way, considering the heat we’ve I’ve been enduring.
Ingredients:
7 c. water
2 c. sugar
12 oz. can frozen Orange juice
12 oz. can frozen Lemon Aid
3 c. Vodka
4 Green tea bags made up with 2 c. water
(9 c. of water all together)
Directions:
1. Boil 7 c. water and sugar till sugar melts.
2. Make Green Tea up with the other 2 c. of water.
3. Mix Tea water into the sugar water.
4. Add in the Lemon Aid, Orange Juice and Vodka.
5. Put all into a large plastic container and Freeze.
6. When frozen, it will only be to a Slush stage due to the Vodka, spoon Slush into tall glasses and pour in 7-UP, Sprite, Squirt or any other clear soda pop of your choice.
7. Can garnish as desired with mint leaves, Lemon or Lime slices.

who needs love when you can have coffee
I am in love with the coffee machine in my office. According to some colls, it’s just an expensive not-very-state-of-the-art home use S$1200 machine.
But it’s not just any ordinary coffee machine, no, no. To me it’s heavenly technology that churns out a perfect espresso from a strange condom-like (unused) pod in under a minute. I had 2 cups daily for most of last week. And thought about it all weekend long. I had my morning fill this morning. I’m thinking about at least 2 more before the end of the day.
I am at peace with the world. I can smile beatifically at anybody who passes by me now.
I’m hoping I don’t have to wean myself off another coffee addiction.
ghostly desserts
I don’t normally surf for recipes during office hours, no point adding to an already hungry stomach/bored mind combination, I don’t normally like too-sweet meringues, and I don’t normally term my food as ‘cute’, but this is just too adorable. ‘woooooooooo’

comfort food weekend
after the slight peanut butter craving (which has so far gone unsatisfied), nicthegeek decided to resolve a week of strrrreesss by having a junk food weekend. Having decided that, ntg proceeded to ntuc and bought 3 packs of pocky ($0.87! cheap!), 4 bars of kit kat chunky (which are sooo much better than the original four finger pack), 1 big pack of ruffles (original, of course) and a small bottle of skippy peanut butter.
have so far demolished 2 bars of kit kat chunky (1 of remained from the chocolate attack earlier in the week), 1 pack of pocky and the pack of ruffles. adding on the butter sugar toast and creamy pasta from saturday, and grilled fish and french fries from sunday, it’s no wonder ntg feels sick right now. perhaps comfort food also got limit.
yet another potato craving
this time, after last Friday’s Marche dinner, it’s for Rosti, complete with cold tart sour cream and a nice foot-long skin-cracks-when-you-bite-into-it chicken sausage.
i’m actually salivating as I type…

I finally tasted this Baby Star Crispy Noodle Snack (Chicken Flavour), quite yumz, like mamee without the powdery mess.
